VP3000S
Portable SCTE104/SCTE35 Analyzer
VP3000S is a portable device that detects and measures SCTE35/SCTE104 messages and verifies that they are pointing to valid locations for commercial insertion.
This affordable and portable device analyzes SCTE35 and SCTE104 messages in MPEG over IP and SDI signals in real time making it easy for content providers, broadcasters, encoder/decoder manufacturers, and technicians to verify advertisement insertion along their broadcast chain. It includes multiple GPI interfaces for measuring immediate commercial insertions via external signals. (SDI only) An integrated 7.0” 800x480 LCD with touch screen allows the operator to easily operate and clearly view video waveforms of the timing relation among SCTE signals and insertion points in milliseconds or fields.
Features
- Includes 1 SD/HD-SDI input with 8 GPI inputs and an Ethernet port for MPEG over IP. An optional 2nd SD/HD-SDI input card can be added allowing 2 SD/HD-SDI signals and 1 MPEG-2 signal to be monitored simultaneously in real-time.
- Detects, analysis, and logs opt codes 1 and 2. Detects and logs opt codes 3 to 5.
- Uses nearest black fields to the insertion point to do analysis. If no black fields are detected then the nearest scene change is used.
- 3RU x ½ Rack size makes for easy rack mounting. Sturdy top handle and deployable front legs allows for excellent portability for troubleshooting.
- All measurements reported in milliseconds and fields.
- Waveform data and analysis can be saved in jpg format making it easy to add to a report.
- On screen live decoded video of MPEG-2 signal. (no audio)
- Network interface for multi-cast MPEG-2 over IP supported.
- TCP/IP Web Interface
- 3 USB ports for optional keyboard, mouse, memory stick, etc.
- User configurable parameters to classify results for each SCTE detected as Normal, Warning, or Error.
- User configurable parameters to classify results for each quality error and clip detected as Normal, Warning, or Error.
SCTE 104/35 Measurements
Recently there has been a lot of concern over “automated ad insertion” in digital television signals. SCTE created the standard SCTE35/104 that defines how to trigger the ad insertion automatically. Ideally these SCTE35/104 messages should have their insertion pointers pointing to a period of black frames to trigger the automated content insertion correctly and give a natural appearance to the content viewer. K-WILL VP3000S will detect the SCTE35/104 messages and measure the period of black frames near the insertion pointer. It will measure where the insertion pointer lies within the black frames or how far away it is from the nearest black frame if it is pointing to a non-black frame. If no black frames are nearby, it will measure how far the insertion pointer is away from a scene change. VP3000S is covered by Japanese and U.S. patents, issued and pending.
